ArchiveOptics, LLC

An independent American software company · Florida

We believe your data should stay your data, on your own machines, yours to work with any way you want, in any software you want.

ArchiveOptics builds native Mac software on that belief, for people who take their photographs seriously, working photographers, lifelong hobbyists, and families with generations of pictures to care for. Our two applications, PhotoLibrarian and Negative Converter, do all their work on your Mac, and neither one can connect to the internet.

The company was founded by a photographer who is also a veteran systems software engineer. Like many of the people we build for, he is the keeper of more than 150,000 photographs and boxes of family film. We build the software we needed and couldn't buy: a photo organizer with no subscription attached, and a film converter that treats every scanned negative as irreplaceable.

What we believe

• Everything on your Mac. Neither application has network access, macOS itself blocks them from connecting to the internet. Every machine-learning model runs on your Mac. Nothing is uploaded, nothing is shared, no account, no analytics.
• Your cloud, only when you say so. If an original lives only in your iCloud or Dropbox, PhotoLibrarian asks first, and macOS downloads it from your own account. Negative Converter never downloads an online-only scan; download it in the Finder, then add it again.
• Originals are sacred. Our applications never move or delete your photographs, and never change an original on their own. Every edit is stored as data, every output is a new file, and nothing is replaced without your say-so.
• Native or nothing. We build real Mac apps, made only for Apple silicon, with GPU-accelerated imaging, not cross-platform compromises.
• Buy it once. Keep it. One-time purchases, no subscriptions. You buy each application once, and it keeps working.
• Honest claims. Everything on this website describes software that exists and behaves as described. When something is still in development, we say so.
