Privacy policy

The short version: we don't collect your data, because our software is built so we can't.

Our applications

PhotoLibrarian and Negative Converter run entirely on your Mac.

• No network access, macOS itself blocks both applications from connecting to the internet. Neither is given the network permission in Apple’s App Sandbox, so neither can make a network connection. Negative Converter’s Help › Privacy Policy menu item, and a few links in its Help, open in your web browser: the browser connects, not the app.
• No cloud processing. Every machine-learning model runs on your Mac, face recognition, image analysis, healing, and denoising included, using models built into the applications or into macOS. Nothing is uploaded, nothing is shared. Your photographs are never transmitted to us or to anyone else.
• No accounts. The applications require no sign-up, no login, and no registration to function.
• No telemetry or analytics. The applications collect no usage data, crash reports, identifiers, or statistics, and send nothing. Separately, if you have chosen in macOS to share analytics with app developers, Apple may give us anonymous crash reports and usage figures for apps you got from the App Store. That is Apple’s service, under Apple’s privacy policy.
• Cloud files only when you say so. If an original lives only in your iCloud or Dropbox, PhotoLibrarian asks first, and macOS downloads it from your own account. Negative Converter never downloads a scan that lives only in the cloud; download it in the Finder, then add it again.
• Your files stay yours. The applications read your image files where they already live and never modify or delete an original.

This website

• No cookies, no analytics, no trackers. This site is plain, static HTML. We run no analytics scripts, set no cookies, and embed no third-party content.
• Hosting. The site is served by our hosting provider, which, like virtually all web hosts, may keep standard technical server logs (such as IP address and requested page) for security and operations.

Email and phone

If you email or call us, we receive what you send, that's the only personal information we hold. We use it solely to reply to you and, only if you've asked, to tell you when our software is released. We never sell, rent, or share your contact information, and you can ask us to delete any correspondence at any time by writing to support@archiveoptics.com.

Purchases

When you buy Negative Converter on the Mac App Store, Apple handles the payment. PhotoLibrarian’s purchase options will be described here when it goes on sale. We never see or store your payment card details.

Children

Our website and software are general-audience products and do not knowingly collect information from children.
